San Antonio Spurs – Game Intro Production
Client & Background:
The San Antonio Spurs are more than just a basketball team—they’re a cultural cornerstone of South Texas and a symbol of pride for San Antonio. Known for their excellence on the court and their lasting impact in the community, the Spurs embody teamwork, discipline, and spirit in everything they do.
The Challenge:
The fan experience is everything at Spurs games. The Frost Bank Center is LOUD and an electric and energizing player intro to get the fans and vibe at the highest level takes planning, experience, and innovation is EXACTLY what Geomedia is designed to manage.
The challenge? Coordinating a complex, high-quality shoot around the player’s demanding schedules—with only a narrow time window to capture footage of all 22 players and zero margin for error in an untraditional space.
Objectives:
- Plan and execute efficiently, maximizing every minute of limited player availability while keeping them energized and willing to play along.
- Build three sets from scratch for different looks that could accommodate players who are more than seven feet tall with an eight-foot wingspan (we’re looking at YOU Victor Wembeyana!) and shooting from all angles.
- with an eight-foot wingspan with precision and speed while maintaining consistent, high-quality footage.
Solutions:
Geomedia meticulously mapped out every detail of production in advance. The team brought 12 cameras, including the Sony FX-9, and built three custom sets to capture dynamic visuals across multiple angles and styles.
To ensure seamless coordination, each camera was assigned a dedicated operator and assistant, allowing simultaneous filming across locations. Every lighting setup, floor plan, and movement was carefully choreographed for maximum efficiency and cinematic quality.
In just two hours, Geomedia’s crew captured over five terabytes of 60fps footage (the equivalent of 100 feature-length movies), ensuring every shot reflected the power, energy, and precision synonymous with Spurs basketball.
Results:
It was a SLAM DUNK! The result was a visually striking and high-energy giving the Spurs organization plenty of poses for fan-favorite player introductions and videos.
