MARTIN JAEGER

Martin Jaeger is a San Antonio native with 30 years of experience as a designer, illustrator, motion graphics artist, animator and is cofounder and principle of Geomedia, Inc.

Ever since grade school, Martin knew he would become an artist. Intrigued by animation and always sketching and drawing, Martin illustrated his personal fascinations with nature, birds of prey, aircraft and design… garnering accolades at art shows throughout junior high and high school. It was at this time that he first channeled his talent toward an eventual career, working half days after classes at a local commercial art studio through a distributive education program. 

In 1988, after moving on from a successful sport aviation business, Martin founded HyperGraphics Inc. a technical illustration firm where he incorporated the computer as a design and illustration tool for the first time. “It’s hard to believe we used to do this stuff by hand, with pencils, rapidograph pens, ink and paint” recalls Martin when looking back on these early years. The company saw substantial success and helped usher in the era of electronic publishing which evolved during this time.

By the mid-nineties Martin had begun to pivot the company toward 3D animation and motion graphics when he met current partner Murray Breit. Murray was the owner of a successful business of his own in the field of video production. Seeing an opportunity to bring computer technology to the process of video editing, Martin and Murray formed Geomedia, Inc. These were the formative years in the nascent field of computer graphics. Broadcast design was just starting to utilize 3D technology and CG visual effects in motion pictures were seen for the first time. “The idea of doing video, motion graphics, 3D animation and VFX was such a fascinating synthesis of artistry and technology that it became the primary direction for the new company” explains Martin. “Meeting Murray was the catalyst and I now knew where I wanted to go with my career and company”. The duo would later add the company’s third partner Zach Nasits to helm the production department and bring his considerable cinematography skills to bear. Since its founding Geomedia has experienced a rapid growth trajectory. By incorporating all of these services under one roof, the forward-thinking team has set a precedent for pioneering innovation grounded in proven techniques that Geomedia maintains to this day.

Today Martin serves as Geomedia President, senior designer/animator/VFX artist and oversees the graphics department as well as day-to-day operations. When occasionally not working, Martin enjoys hang gliding, cooking and spending time with his family.
